Software for better trading performance
If you’re short selling on the ASX, there is an obligation to report your short positions to ASIC. This means lodging your reports to the ASIC server via secure FIX protocol messaging.
Iress supports PositionReport FIX application messages to communicate with the ASIC FIX Engine via a direct network line.
This is made simple by using Iress’ new Short Sell Position Report function—via Order System.
What does the Short Sell Position Report function do?
- Provides visibility of short sell positions entered for the day and historically with a status update from ASIC.
- Allows positions to be lodged with ASIC for the current day, as well as past three historical trading days.
- Filters positions by account, security or trade date.
- Provides a full audit trail for each position.

How does it work?
With a dedicated Order System server, traders can digitally submit short sell positions using various methods including:
- the Iress Pro front end
- an Excel spreadsheet via the Pro / Excel add-in
- via APIs and FIX third-party integration.
Four ways Short Sell Position Reporting can help your business
- Compliant: Allows you to easily meet your reporting obligations.
- Cost- and time-effective: Off-the-shelf with minimal implementation time.
- Integrated: Simple integration regardless of the software you use.
- Connected: Efficient and accurate messaging.
